This privacy policy applies to the PTA Connect app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by RAJIV GANDHI INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, KOTTAYAM as a Free service. This service is provided "AS IS" and is strictly intended for use by the students, parents, faculty, and administration of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT), Kottayam.
1. Information Collection and Use
To provide a seamless digital ecosystem for parents and faculty, our Service requires certain personally identifiable and academic information. This information is securely retained on our cloud servers.
- Personal Information: Parent/Guardian Names, Email addresses, Phone numbers, and Student Admission numbers.
- Academic Information: Student attendance logs, internal examination marks, and university results.
- Communication Data: Secure chat messages exchanged between parents and faculty mentors.
- Media & Documents: Profile pictures, medical/leave certificates, and document attachments uploaded within the app.
This data is utilized exclusively to facilitate academic monitoring, grievance redressal, institutional announcements, and transparent communication within the college.
2. Third-Party Services
The Application relies on trusted third-party infrastructure to function securely. Below are the privacy policies of the service providers we utilize:

- Google Analytics for Firebase
- Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore & Storage
3. Log Data and Analytics
Whenever you use our Service, in the event of an application crash or error, we collect data and information (through third-party products) on your device called Log Data. This may include your device Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app, and the time and date of your use. This helps us squash bugs and improve app stability.
4. Data Security
We deeply value your trust in providing your Personal Information. We protect it using commercially acceptable enterprise security measures, including OTP-based authentication, hashed passwords, and Firebase robust security rules that prevent unauthorized data access. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
5. Data Retention and Deletion Policy
We retain your personal, academic, and chat data only for as long as the student is enrolled at RIT Kottayam, or as mandated by official institutional guidelines.
If you wish to revoke access or delete your account, chat history, or personal phone number mappings from our database, you may submit a formal request. Upon verification of your identity with the college office, your data will be securely and permanently wiped from our active databases within 30 days.

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features or security updates. You are advised to review this page occasionally for any changes. We will notify you of any major changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
